Since no two wines are the same, it is important that the barrels are specific for each type of wine, which is why the dialogue between oenologist/cooper is essential. However, this working method requires organisation that speeds up the manufacturing of the barrels. In the production area, Tonelería Murúa has implemented a modern and competitive process that orders resources in order to achieve the perfect product within the time is established and with adequate resources. Quality on time and within deadlines, which improves and speeds up the barrel making process.

 

    The LEAN tools integrated are:

  • 5S: Improves the process through order, organisation and standardisation.
  • Eliminates waste in seven areas: Improved costs and productivity.
  • Flexible cells: Flexibility in order to adapt to demand.
  • Quality circles: Manufacturing standards.
  • TPM: Preventive maintenance to have more stable and controlled production.
  • PokaYokes: Anti-error solutions that facilitate production without defects.

This management innovation project is important for offering customers barrels with no defects, within the delivery time and budget required.
